We recently had some family in town and decided to spend a hot sunny day out on the water to catch some Salmon. I brought my camera gear along incase we saw any whales. While we were trolling along waiting for the fish to bite, some Bald Eagle began trying their luch catching salmon. I got out my Nikon D3 with my 200-400mm f/4 lens out and began firing away, always trying to keep the Eagles in sharp focus. I was able to get off a few good shots before I had to put down my camera gear to work on reeling in some fish.
We got three salmon that day, but the best part of the day was enjoying the Eagles and spending time with family. What a great way to spend a nice summer day.

While in Tracy Arm Fjord, we came across this family of black bears that were feeding along the shoreline. The mother uses her paw to grind the barnacles and mussels into a paste, which she will then lick off of her paws. Her two young cubs were watching her intently , learning this method of gathering food. I love the patches of white on the chests of the two young cubs. I shot this photograph handheld using my Nikon D3 and a 200-400mm f/m lens. ENJOY!!!

Wilderness Peaks Gallery is once again open to the public!!! It’s twice the size, looks amazing, and should have a lot better traffic coming through the store.
It’s been a hectic last few months getting the building restored and renovated. The gallery is located in the Guffy Building, which was built in 1914, and was once home to the world famous Red Dog Saloon. It has seen a lot of neglect over the years, so we’ve been working hard over the past two months to make the space look nice. We took down the wood paneling on the walls, tore down the drop ceilings (which revealed amazing 15-foot ceilings), hung new track light, built a new wall, built a window display, and a fresh coat of paint on everything.
Despite all the hard work, and sleepless nights with today’s looming deadline of the first cruise ship of 2011, we opened our doors right as the ship pulled into town!!! I honestly didn’t think we were going to get it open by our deadline
Things couldn’t be better. We have a new gallery location, two great employees, and I have some exciting trips planned for this summer to get some new and exciting photographs!!!
So if you happen to be in downtown Juneau anytime, stop by the gallery and say hello. We’re located at 159 South Franklin St. (Next to the Alaskan Hotel and El Sombrero) During the summer we’re open everyday from 9am-8pm.

We’ve been working with the owners of the Airport Mall here in Juneau about a permanent installation of my artwork at their shopping center. Jennifer and I spent a few weeks helping them choose out the right photographs for the location. They’ve been up for a while, but I haven’t gotten a chance to swing by and take a look. I was really happy with the display and I think the photographs add a lot to the space.
